Well they may not have a lot to explain, but it's for sure that this is a "hasbara" blunder beyond. Yes, It's important to understand that both Israel and Egypt for years have maintained blockades of Gaza. Knowing Israel also maintains a humanitarian corridor those operating the flotilla out of Turkey should have figured that Israel would be uninvited guests, but I think Israel is in for a whopper this time around and more than just a slap on the wrist.

I think you are right about the PR blunder.
Daniel Pipes said today,
"Rachel Corrie has been an albatross around Israel's neck since 2003; today's dead on the seas off Gaza will prove an even worse source of anti-Zionism. Thus did the "armada of hate and violence" achieve its purpose. Thus did the Israelis fall into a trap."

Interesting that you reference Rachel Corrie. I have followed 'her play' around and now understand that The Irish Times reported on the next planned ship, with humanitarian supplies, the 'Rachel Corrie,' is "due to arrive in Gazan waters shortly."

Seems that ship is just a converted merchant ship but bought by pro-Palestinian activists and named Rachel Corrie. It's a never ending saga. Egypt and Israel need to do alot of spin to make the world and the UN understand. What a pitiful situation.

It's becoming clearer that many on the blockade ships were interested in becoming martyrs and the next "Rachel Corrie."
I, too, followed the Rachel Corrie play and then Churchill's Seven Jewish Children. The latter was more aggravating because it had anti-Semitic overtones but was a featured presentation at several Jewish sponsored venues around the country. There are several postings on Terror Victims' Voice regarding the latter.
Rachel Corrie was no saint, she was a misguided young woman being manipulated by the International Solidarity Movement and its handlers at Hamas.
You are right that this is a pitiful situation.
